The Idea behind 2M2T

The idea for creating the 2M2T program originated in early 2012 during a knowledge transfer project in The Hague. The preparation of this program lasted for 14 months, and it was officially launched in April 2013. Initially, the program was intended for youth between the ages of 16 and 26, focusing on the interrelation of Marketing, Media, Tourism, and Technology. As the program evolved over the years, these four areas were individually and, in their interrelationships, analyzed through the lens of artistic creation, laws and regulations, as well as mathematical operations.

The program was created by Ana Nives Radovic, whose professional engagement and academic research encompassed all four of these areas. Her academic background spans both economic and legal sciences, while simultaneously being involved in visual arts. Highlighting the concept of Art-Law-Math in her professional work, it served as the starting point for researching the 2M2T domains.

The author’s years-long engagement in media analysis of financial flows, as well as analyzing the legal framework for the development of technologies such as blockchain, which is the subject of her master’s and doctoral theses, has also opened up the possibility for her to consider the protection of copyright for visual artists from another perspective, also through smart contracts drafted in NFTs.

The concept of applying blockchain technology in the 2M2T spheres is also the subject of her research, lectures, and media articles she publishes. In addition to defining the basics for creating a mechanism that would enable the system to generate revenue based on copyright each time a motif from an original work of visual art is used in design reproduction, as well as revenue from the resale of tokenized physical assets, such as paintings and sculptures.
